Wearing a bold lip sometimes requires courage and self-confidence… or at least for me it does. I’ve always been dreading the red lipstick, maybe because I thought it would draw attention on me and being the centre of attention isn’t always my thing. I also hated the fact that it’s high maintenance, as it needs constant checking in the mirror and reapplying and apparently, that’s too much responsibility for me. Story of my life. Learning how to properly apply lipstick so that it lasts was a game-changer for me.
Maybelline’s ColorSensational lipsticks are as good as they get. Moisturizing, easy to apply, rich in colour… all you could ever want. They might not last as long as a matte lipstick does, but they feel much better on the lips. 912 Electric Orange (as part of the Vivids collection) is my first shade I purchased from the range, but definitely not the last. I was incredibly impressed with the formula and to be fair, I couldn’t want more from a lipstick.
What’s surprising is that I find this orange shade much more wearable than a classic red one! It can be worn during the day, as well as during the evening – it’s the perfect pop of colour! So how do I apply it? I usually apply lip balm beforehand, just to lock it the moisture. For bolder lipsticks, I tend to apply the very first layer with the Real Techniques Detailer Brush from the Core Collection and then straight from the bullet. If I want extra persistence, I will blot with a tissue (maybe even set the lips with a tiny bit of translucent powder), then go over with the lipstick again.
So to answer, is it wearable? Of course it is. Even black lipstick is! So go out there, enjoy yourself and don’t stress too much about what colour your lipstick is. P.S.: Just finished George Orwell’s 1984 that’s showing in the pictures. What a masterpiece!! P.P.S.: Totally not wearing any eye makeup…
