The Five Minute Drugstore Face

The Five Minute Drugstore Face

There are certain days in a girl’s life when even putting makeup on can seem like a chore. On days like this, kudos to you, if you can go in public without wearing the slightest bit of makeup… but, until my face gets better (probably when I’m in my thirties), 5 minutes to get my glam on is all I need.

I am aware that during summer, the normal thing to do is wear less coverage. For me, I need a fair amount of coverage to hide my acne scarring/pimples and something that’s also long lasting and sweat-proof. I’ve just got my second bottle of Rimmel Lasting Finish 25HR, 300 Sand (transitioned into my summer shade; yay for bronzed skin!) and it’s proven to be one of the best foundations I have ever used for my oily and acne prone complexion. It also has an SPF of 20, so it’s extremely convenient for these unbearable hot summer days. You can read more about it here.

Next up, of course, what else but the Maybelline Anti-Age Eraser, Light. I mean, I proclaimed my never-ending love for it here and I have nothing else to say other than the fact that’s absolutely incredible both for under the eye and for concealing imperfections.

For setting everything, I dust on my trusty old Rimmel Stay Matter Powder, 006 Warm Beige and my skin stays pretty matte for a good few hours, which is quite a breakthrough for my skin on which you can certainly fry bacon during the heat. I am yet to find a better powder from the drugstore that works better…

I am surprisingly still using the H&M Bronzer and these days I enjoy contouring and applying it as a blush for a more sun-kissed complexion. It works great, stays in place and it’s quite blendable on the skin – for only Β£3, it’s a complete bargain.

Brows. I have been tying to get more into pencils, so using the Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil, 001 Dark Brown has been a challenge for me, especially since until now, I’ve only used powders for filling in the sparse areas in my brows. When I’m in hurry, I swipe this on and I’m done. I found this pencil lasts particularly more than powder does.

L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara Extra Black is, hands down, one of the best drugstore mascara. I have to confess, when I first got it one month ago, I hated it. The formula was too wet, but now that it’s slightly dry, it works wonderfully. Someone even asked me if I was wearing falsies – that’s the supreme verdict.

Lastly, I have been using the Maybelline Colorsensational Lip Liner in 140 Intense Pink all over the lips, as lipstick. Pink, creamy and easy to use, I’ve been loving wearing this on my lips as it lasts more than lipstick does.

  1. Loved this post!

    This is litterally what I do when I don’t have time, except I don’t apply foundation. (I just can’t find a shade…)
Nowadays, it’s become my everyday makeup routine! (I even did a post about it, haha, #shamelessselfpromo)

    Have a great day!

    xx

      1. Oh, believe me, I’ve tried!
In the drugstore, they just give me the lightest shade of any foundation, no matter how poor of a match it is and in MAC, I’m between a couple of shades. :/
One day, I’ll find the perfect shade, though! πŸ˜€

  2. Do you use a certain brush to apply the Rimmel foundation? I find it really had to apply and end up giving up and starting again with a different foundation.. Xx

      1. No I haven’t tired that! I will have to give that a go and see how I get on! I sometimes put it down to not blending properly if my skin is too dry.. Xx

  3. Do you use a certain brush to apply the Rimmel lasting foundation? I find it really hard to apply and end up taking it off and starting agin with another foundation.. Xx

    1. Hey try a real techniques brush or dab it on with a blushed brush. It’ll spread the foundation evenly. Also it helps to moisturise before so the product glides on. Hope it works x
