The Summer Edit

The Summer Edit (2)

Here we are, mid summer, sweating our bottoms off and turning to makeup for solace. If you haven’t brought out the golds and the brights yet, this is the sign you were waiting for: do it now.

This is not a drill. Gold eye shadows, gold eye liners, gold highlighters and gold nail polish… Ooh, yes. If you don’t get all tingly when thinking about that, I don’t know what is wrong with you. I mean, you don’t have to wear them all at the same time, but I’m not gonna judge.

FACE

The Summer Edit (1)
Left to right: Maybelline Colour Tattoo On and on Bronze; Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips in Vegas Strip; L’Oreal Caresse 103 Marilyn; Dior Glow Maximizer
What is that precious little thing staring at you in the middle? That’s the Dior Glow Maximizer that totally stole my heart and made my summer. I kid you not this is not an overstatement, it’s one of the best products I own: luscious, gold highlight that will sit on your cheekbones like no other and will sting the eyes of enemies (not guaranteed). I know it says it’s a primer, but do not let labels confuse you; yes, it can be used as a primer, underneath your foundation, and probably looks fab on skin that’s not as oily as mine, but this guy does an amazing job at highlighting. Blends like a dream, long-lasting, works for any skin tone and photographs wonderfully- convinced yet?

Another great highlighter that I don’t hear too many people raving about is the Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips, Vegas Strip – can be used as a bronzer, highlighter and even as eyeshadow and it looks majestic. Swirl your brush either on the shades, either on one to create your colour of choice and be prepared to go from ugh to woah. Great alternative for my people with extremely oily skin that are scared to use liquid highlighters (you shouldn’t be).

EYES

My favourite product of all time? Urban Decay’s Naked 1 Palette. This one doesn’t require any words, it speaks for itself. Incredible every day shades that can be transformed in great bold looks for nights out – the combinations are endless. Half Baked is definitely my fave gold.

It wouldn’t be a Dream and Dazzle post without a Maybelline Color Tattoo, this one is in On and on Bronze. Yep, you know you heard about it way too many times, but trust the hype, it’s amazing. Applied with fingers all over the lid, it makes for the perfect summer statement. And once it’s on, well, you might need a loofah to take it off, let’s put it that way.

Hi, I’m Diana and I’m addicted to using By Terry Crayon Khol Terrybly, Festive Gold. Not even joking, I struggle everyday not to use this on my waterline or inner corners. I am yet to wear this as an eyeliner, on the lashline, but one day I will and probably won’t get back. I talked more about it here.

LIPS

L’Oreal Lipgloss Shine Caresse, 103 Marilyn – rekindled my love for this one. Glossy, perfect pink-mauvey colour that will pretty much compliment every look this summer.

NAILS

Nail polish from Urban Outfitters? Hell yes. It’s the first one I’ve tried and it stayed on my nails for a week and that’s saying something. The shade’s called Prince and looks goooooorgeous! Especially with a bit of a tan, you’ll get lots of compliments for sure. Or lots of stares – who knows these days.

Finally, a gold nail polish: Maybelline Colorama, 108 – shimmery (not glittery) polish that I will wear all summer long. Might remind you of Christmas.

That’s it, ladies. Stay hydrated. And golden.

  1. I absolutely love the color tattoo’s. But, I’m going to have to try the Physicians Formula product. I’ve only ever used their concealer, which I really enjoy. I just purchased their CC cream, but I’m still in the trial phase! HAHA. 🙂 Great post! -H

  2. Great post! Love the boldness of that nail polish color, and I have the Naked2 palette but have always thought I probably would have used Naked original more. Hope you have a chance to check out my blog sometime!
